Karaoke4Kids is our biggest night of the year, and
Brown County businesses don’t come quietly.
Teams take the stage, battle it out behind the microphone, and compete for the coveted karaoke trophy, with plenty of bragging rights along the way.
It lands in April on purpose. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and this is the loud half of a month we spend making sure Brown County knows these children are here.
Every ticket, entry, and sponsorship helps fund the practical needs of Brown County children throughout the year.

Walk of Knowledge
Each pair of shoes along the Walk of Knowledge represents a confirmed case of child abuse or neglect in Brown County from the previous year. Along the walk, signs share facts and statistics about child abuse, creating a powerful visual of what local children have experienced.
The Walk of Knowledge is displayed each April and is also available upon request for community events and organizations.

Some of our most important work isn’t only about raising money. It’s about raising awareness. Each April, the Board joins communities across Texas in focusing on keeping children safe and supporting families before a crisis begins. Here’s how we mark the month in Brown County:
Raising awareness
Child Abuse Awareness Proclamation:
The Brown County Commissioners Court officially proclaims April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Courthouse lawn displays:
Awareness displays on the courthouse lawns remind everyone who passes by that keeping kids safe takes all of us.

A walk that shares facts about child abuse and how our community can help prevent it.
